Conference on "Catalyzing Transformation through Technology: How Mobile Financial Services Contributes to the Growth of Ethiopia".

Conference on "Catalyzing Transformation through Technology: How Mobile Financial Services Contributes to the Growth of Ethiopia".

The Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, along with Ethio Telecom is pleased to be hosting the inaugural Ethiopia Mobile Financial Services Conference in Addis Ababa entitled, "Catalyzing Transformation through Technology: How Mobile Financial Services Contributes to the Growth of Ethiopia".

Lack of access to financial services impedes livelihoods and economic development of a country. Evidence from various countries has shown that technology based mobile financial services, such as branchless banking and mobile money, plays a significant part in overcoming this impediment.

This conference, which will have two parallel sessions, aims to facilitate discussion on how technology and the enabling environment can transform Ethiopia's financial services landscape to contribute in reaching the GTP growth targets, in particular increasing savings mobilization and access to rural financial services.

This event will be an interactive dialogue on how Ethiopia can successfully develop and encourage innovative mobile financial services.
