Welcome to the website of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT).

The Ethiopian government established Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) in 2010 recognizing the critical role of information and communication technology (ICT) in the national development.The ministry is an apex institution which spearheads the ICT development of the nation by way of developing policy instruments, designing various programs, mobilizing resources,guiding and monitoring implementation. Consequently, our ministry's achievement will be measured primarily by the depth and breadth of ICT assisted life it brought to Ethiopian citizens.

To this end, the MCIT will do its utmost to successfully discharge its responsibilities bestowed upon it. And I am honored to have been the pioneer minister entrusted with the mission of heading MCIT at this historic moment of Ethiopia where the government launched the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) that triggered the developmental journey towards Ethiopian Renaissance.In my capacity, I wish and hope to play my leading role in MCIT and I sincerely ask you all for your support and participation in our endeavor to eradicate poverty and transform the living standard of our people.

Ethiopia Ready for New Digital World Adopted Globally, Says Minister

Addis Ababa June 29/2017 Ethiopia is ready for a new and future digital world, according to Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. In his opening speech to the First International ICT Expo that opened here yesterday, Communications and Information Technology Minister Dr.Debretsion Gebremichael said Ethiopia is ready for a new digital world that has been adopted worldwide. According to him, Ethiopia has recognized the importance of information technology as part and parcel of the nation's journey towards industrialization. "We are (therefore) holding this international ICT Expo for the first time under the theme ‘Digital Ethiopia' at a time when the realms of globalization have brought benefits and opportunities for peoples across the world", he added.
